Q: I am new to the game of Badminton. I would like to know the process to participate in All India Ranking Tournaments. What is the process?

Ans: Welcome to the sport of Badminton. One has to have a BAI ID (issued by Badminton Association of India) to participate in the All India Ranking Tournaments conducted at All India Level, by BAI. To get the BAI ID, you can reach out to your district level badminton governing bodies. The details of all the governing bodies are provided in this site under BAT menu option.

Q: What are the different types of tournaments conducted / facilitated by BAI?

Ans : BAI conducts tournaments at All India level. There are 3 types of tournaments.

(1)   Seniors, Under 19, Under 17, Under 15, Under 13, Under 11. To be eligible to play these tournaments, a player must have BAI ID. And also should meet the age criteria. The age criteria details are provided in this site under “Important Information” menu option.

(2)   Senior Ranking tournaments : Anyone can play the tournament, as long as the player has BAI ID

(3)   Veteran / Masters Category: There are different categories, starting from 35+ to 75+ level. To be eligible to play these tournaments, a player must have BAI ID. And also should meet the age criteria. The age criteria details are provided in this site under “Important Information” menu option.

Q: What are the different types of tournaments conducted / facilitated by BAT?

Ans : BAT conducts tournaments at Telangana State level. There are 3 types of tournaments.

(1)   State & District Tournaments : All the types of tournaments conducted by BAI, but at state level. Rules and regulations followed are similar to BAI norms. A player has to be from Telangana State to participate in these tournaments.

(2)   Open Tournaments : Players are advised to play only BAT approved tournaments. These are open tournaments conducted after seeking BAT approval. A player can participate as long as the player meets age criteria (as applicable).

Q: I am interested in conducting an open tournament. What is the process / guidelines?

Ans: You are advised to send your letter of interest to BAT by email. BAT reviews all the requests periodically and approves the tournaments based on different calendars (BAI, BAT). You can contact any BAT official for Events for further information on this, or send an email to BAT official email ID.

Q: Why should I (as a player) create a profile? Can I not play a tournament without creating a profile?

Ans : Every player, who wishes to participate in BAT approved tournaments, has to create a profile. This is a one time activity. After creating the profile, player has to login to his/her profile to register for any tournament. The eligibility check and all kinds of tracking would be done though the profile. Also, BAT is trying to streamline and create a database of players’ performance and their past tournaments. Profiles would also help BAT in controlling duplicate registrations, etc

Q: I have registered for a tournament online. How do I know if if my registration is successful?

Ans : As soon as the player pays the entry fee, the request is sent to the administrator. The validation takes 2 hours approximately. After 2 hours time, the player can login to his/her profile and can check the entry confirmation. A player will get the registration details under the tournaments area, in his/her profiles after successful login.

Q: How can I participate in BWF / International tournaments?

Ans: To participate in an international /BWF tournament, a player must have a BWF ID. To get the BWF ID, please contact BAT officials. However, to get the BWF ID or to participate in international tournaments, a player must have a national (BAI) rank below 100 in that particular category/event.

Q: What is the age criteria to play the Sub Junior / Junior / Veteran tournaments?

Ans : Please check the age criteria under “Important Information” menu item. Please note that this criteria changes every year, from 1st January. Hence, you are advised to check this information on regular basis to know your eligibility to participate in various tournaments.

Q: I am interested in becoming an Umpire / Referee. What is the procedure?

Ans : Please reach out to BAT over email or contact any of the BAT officials to get more details. We are encouraging several enthusiasts to get trained in these areas and we are happy to help.

Q: How can I change some of the details in my profile, like academy, etc?

Ans : Please logon to using your porfile credentials, at the "player login" menu option under Players Arena. Once you login, you will be able to change some of the details like academy, etc.

Q: I want to add my academy under "Registered Academies".  What is the procedure?

Ans : Please send all the details of your academy to btr.regn@gmail.com. We will be happy to add the academy after validating the details.
